Travertine Pavers - Update

Travertine pavers are a paving material that I have been specifying recently. I was introduced to them last year and I have to admit, I got very excited.

First of all, they are beautiful. What could be nicer than natural stone....which is what they are, butcut into regular shapes. They are much thicker than typical travertine tiles. They are cool to the touch, which makes them great for pool paving. They also resist freeze-thaw conditions. They have many other great features too, such as blending well with many types of other hardscapes.

They also have a few different styles of pool coping to choose from. The wider ones are very attractive. However, if your pool is curvilinear, you would be better off with the narrower pool coping pavers.

I work with the Andes Collection, who imports from Peru. Originally not all colors had matching pool copings, but now that is not the case. In addition, they have introduced a new color. I had the opportunity to see it (along with most of the other colors) today, and it is beautiful. It is called "Blend". On my site, I have a page on Travertine Pavers, where I go into much detail. There are now seven colors to choose from, all very natural looking.

As far as pricing goes, they are more expensive than pavers, but less than natural stone.

They are so much better than brick! Travertine Marble Pavers are natural stone pavers and are able to withstand extreme cold conditions and multiple freeze/thaw cycles. Their PSI ratings demonstrate a higher degree of resilience and durability in extreme conditions than concrete, brick or other outdoor paving alternatives.

I have to agree, i think Travertine or any natural stone for that matter is better than brick pavers. Not only is it low minatenance but you can use a sant-set application or mud-set application with most products.

Regarding mud set, that would be more applicable to travertine tile. One of the good things about travertine pavers is that they can and should be dry laid. This keeps the cost down, works extremely well, and makes any repairs easy.

The cost when installed this way is just a step up from tumbled pavers.

Travertine and Marble pavers are definately up and coming these days. So many good points were mentioned, low maintenance, staying cool to the touch, not slippery, very cost effective in the long run.

these days everyone is doing what they can to save a penny here and there, especially when you are remodeling your house. The great this about travertine and marble is there is no need to seal the material. So you will not have the annual cost to maintain the sealer. Also they are very easy to maintain. Typically is any liquids or chemicals spill on teh material all you have to do is hose is down immediately. there are instances where you are unable to immediately hose down any stains and we have some up with a few ways that are easy to clean. Travertine pavers are incredible. We are so glad we chose them for our pool deck.

I also recommend sand setting them, as meant to be.

As a supplier I can suggest Travertine Mart. Their website is www.travertinemart.com

We have been very pleased with their quality, prices and service.
